Exploratory Sketching
If most people think about Industrial Design, most would probably think as it in the ‘classical’ way, which is more closely related to product design. A big part of that is product sketches. Sketching helps to convey ideas in a professional way. This elective focused not on creating perfect product sketches. It is more focused on creating a mindset of using sketching as a tool for conveying a story and generate ideas (explorative). Topics focused on were figure drawing, setting a scene, linear/cylindrical objects, complex geometry and form/material.
Overall I think this elective has shown me the importance of having sketching skills, which are applicable throughout the whole design-process from ideating to conveying thoughts to clients. Due to this I have developed a tool that I can use in multiple situations and for sure will experience profit from in the future.
