Engineering Design
During this multidisciplinary course, we had to design. This is one of the core competencies of an engineer: creating something new, something that was not there before. It learned to formulate design goals, handle external and internal constraints and manage time. The goal was to design a rescue robot that was able to rescue ‘casualties’ remotely.
Also, this course showed the abilities that designers can have as a managemental function within a team. Within this elective, I mostly focussed on aesthetics and managing the group and not so much on the mechanical/coding skills.
